Tax Information

In January 2008, Carol A. Leiphart took over the duties of Tax Collector. She is reponsible for collecting the Borough’s Real Estate and Per Capita taxes, the County’s Real Estate taxes and the School District’s Real Estate and Per Capita taxes.

Borough and County Real Estate taxes are mailed March 1. Taxes paid during the months of March and April are entitled to a discount. This discount period ends April 30. A penalty is applied to any taxes paid after June 30. Any Real Estate taxes that remain unpaid as of December 31 are turned over to the Berks County Tax Claim Bureau for collection. Unpaid Per Capita taxes are turned over to the G. H. Harris Agency for collection. Check your current bill for more information.

The Tax Collector’s office is located at the Borough’s Municipal Building, 999 E. Broad Street. Should you have any questions, please call Carol Leiphart at 610.685.1763.
